Speeches

I feel like this one is quite an obvious choice, but you definitely want to make sure that you are including the all-important speeches on your wedding day. When it comes to the speeches, the one thing you want to remember is that everyone needs to have a drink in their hand - there’s going to be a lot of toasting, so everyone needs to have their glasses full! It is also the duty of the best man to make sure that he tells the most embarrassing stories known about the groom, it will be the only time that this is possible in-front of his new wife and his family - so if you are a best man reading this - you better be making it a good speech! If you are worrying about what to put in your speech, or you are struggling to find a starting place, if you click here then you can follow the hitched.com guide to writing speeches.

Cutting the Cake

Now this is an absolute must on your wedding day - cutting the cake together has been a wedding tradition for years and years. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been lucky enough to see some incredibly beautiful cakes cut by couples, which has made for some hilarious photos. Often, one person takes the lead while the other pretends and looks like they are working really hard to cut through this cake. Once you managed to make the first cut, it is also nice to both feed each other a piece of the cake, which normally brings out a few laughs and funny reactions for sure! If you are looking for some wedding cake inspiration, then I have linked a Pinterest board that I have made here for some ideas of what you might like.

 BBQ

Now, when it comes to the meal time, it can be quite a challenge to make sure that everyone is going to be fed, especially if you are wanting to have as many of your friends and family there too. Well, thankfully, as you will hopefully be having your wedding on a nice summers day, then there is an opportunity for you to make things a little easier by having a BBQ at the reception instead. This way, you are able to make sure that all of your guests get fed well enough, and at then end of the day, who doesn’t like a BBQ on a hot summers day?

Ceilidh

If you aren’t familiar with the Ceilidh, then I’m 100% confident that once you have read up on it, you will be on board with including it to your wedding day. The Ceilidh is traditional Irish and Scottish dancing to Gaelic folk music, and it is a brilliant way to get everyone up and dancing! There a various different dances that you can do, but if you aren’t too sure on what to do then read about it all here so that it can prepare you to be a pro come your wedding day. A lot of people like to hire a band to come and help them with the Ceilidh and play music, but if you want some inspiration then this Spotify link also includes plenty of different Gaelic folk music you can use. It’s a perfect way to make sure that everyone is involved and having a good time at your wedding, and something that people will be talking about for a long time!

First Dance

This is another very important part of your wedding day - your first dance together! For a lot of people, it can be quite a nerve-racking moment, but the truth is that you just need to focus on each other and make sure that you make it exactly what you want it to be. Some people like to have a slow dance which is quite emotional for both of them, however I have been lucky enough to see a few couples have their own dance routines that they have worked on over the months leading up to their wedding! Whichever you chose is completely up to you, but there is one thing for certain and that’s that it will be a moment the two of you will never forget.
